Daily Office

There is a spiritual milaze over the church.  People go through the motions of worship with out a zeal for the Lord burning in their heart.  In this weeks readings Jesus cleanses the temple.  As they watched Jesus drive out the money changes we read, “His disciples remembered that it was written, ‘Zeal for your house will consume me.’”  Jesus was consumed, totally caught up in the work of his Father.  Zeal means, eagerness, enthusiasm, in the Greek jealousy.  Jesus would not let the religious leaders desire for prophet take away the reason the Temple was built.  The Temple was there to be a house of prayer for all people.  We were saved to be in relationship with God.
